How to grip the golf club - elite level

This video shows an elite player how he or she can gain better control at impact through a more in-depth understanding of the hold on the club, its effect on ball position and how to align the body to both. My last 2 videos are guided towards the beginner golfer and the intermediate player. Check them out as they are full of info that will come across in a less technical fashion. ENJOY!! pretty advanced stuff! very opportune because I've been wondering this myself. Sometimes I would grip the club in a way that for me seemed to be straight but always pushed the ball a little. Then with a slightly closed face it would go straight, and I didn't understand why. This is the explanation!! :D

Hi Steve. I agree with others, this really is the best grip video around. You explain things really well. Just curious on how his works with driver/3 wood when considering the sweet spot and lack of off set? Cheers.

Sweet spot much closer to middle of face so when adopting the hold the face is much squarer resulting in the ball position being much further forward (face not as aggressively closed so les club rotation to get it square to target at address). It will become clearer when you have the club in your hand. Thanks for comments, might do a video on this. thanks again

For a righty , how does strengthening , moving both hands to the right , or clockwise , influence the alignment points illustrated here ? ( same question if movement counterclockwise for the fade ) . thank you . don

don m understanding path and face at impact to shape shots is more important. I don't recommend altering the position of the hands on the grip to alter ball flight unless you swing from the wrist and not the glenohumeral (fulcrum)

Bloody hell Steve, you did say that was a video aimed at the Elite golfer you forgot to say you also needed to be a Biologist and Physassists as well.... But in all seriousness you somehow made it clear. I definitly understand ball possition a lot better now and always thought the sweetspot was in the middle of the face.. As for the Stenson comparison you are bang on, I never understood his preshot routine until now.
